The department participates in numerous functions to assist you to make the right hire.  These including the COBA Career Day in the Fall, Company Information Nights, University Career Fairs,  and the Annual Construction Round table/Career Night in February.  Information on all on and off-campus recruiting can be found below.

On and off campus recruitment is facilitated by the College of Business Administration's Career Center.  They will post resumes, set up information sessions, and coordinate on-campus recruiting.  The Industrial Management Department recognizes employers want and should have contact with the department they may be hiring from.  For this reason employs are encouraged to initially contact the department when they have an interested in hiring a graduate or intern.

Off-Campus Recruiting (posting internships, full-time and part-time positions, and reviewing resume books)

  1. Contact the Industrial Management Department Head and briefly describe position and your company.  The department head will act as a point of contact if the employer runs into problems and is not able to find the candidate they are looking for.
  2. You will be asked to send a copy of the position announcement to the Department Head,  he will forward this to the career center for posting.  The career center will then be in contact with the employer as to how they might proceed to go beyond posting the position by reviewing resumes, etc..  It is not uncommon for employers to ask for us to "just send a few good applicants" we would like to be able to accommodate these requests but do to a number of reasons this is not very practical.
  3. Please follow up with the Department Head whether or not you had luck in your search.  If not we might be able to "freshen" the search and get a new batch of applicants.  Either way we would like to know how the search is progressing on a fairly regular basis.

On-Campus Recruiting (on-campus information sessions, career fairs, interviewing)

  1. On-Campus Information Sessions- Contact the department head and let him know you would like to conduct an on-campus information session.  The Department Head may have a list of dates that fit best with other companies conducting information sessions.  The department head will pass the name of the company, the date, and other contact information to the Career Center.  The Career Center will coordinate parking, rooms, food (students like free food), and make accommodations for on-campus interviewing.  The Career Center and department will advertise to all of the interested students.
  2. Career Fairs- Several opportunities are available to participate in on-campus career fairs.  In the fall companies are invited to participate in the Business Career Day.  Business Career Day includes companies looking for Department of Industrial Management majors as well as Marketing, Business, Accounting, and Finance majors.  This is held in mid-September, the Industrial Management Department can be contact for information on this event.  Several other university wide career day events are held in the fall and spring, contact the career center for more information on these events.  For companies looking for construction management majors the Construction Management Roundtable/Career Night is held in February.  This is the premier event for recruitment of construction management majors, contact the Department Head for more information.
  3. Interviewing- Companies who want to do on-campus interviewing may do this with or without an associated information session.  This is coordinated through the career center with initial contact through the department head.  The Career Center can send resumes for review prior to the on-campus interviews.  A number of methods are available to select candidates for interview.
